Major Tom To Ground Control

The big question haunting you is: Why? 

He didn’t leave a note. You are stumped. 

Of course, every case is different. You will have to listen to the fictional character Major Tom explain, using audio clips, almost all of them from YouTube and most of them from songs. 

The audio file takes 108 minutes and 3 seconds. You will need to concentrate, so don’t lose the value of Major Tom’s message by juggling the audio file with interruptions or distractions. It is best to close your eyes. Don’t let your doorbell, your phone, your friends, your dishes, your homework, traffic or anything else compete with the audio file. You don’t scroll on your telephone or do homework while watching a movie in a theater, so don’t be distracted while listening to the audio file.

You will need to hear the audio clips and understand how a clip may work with other clips long before it or long after it. You will hear pieces of your favorite songs in a different context and perhaps be upset when Major Tom presents a clip in a literal context.

If you feel guilty, just remember that you knew about his situation but not the depth of his despair, the intensity of his pain nor the temperature of his anger and frustration. It wouldn’t have been easy to explain these things to you.

At the end, you will hear Major Tom explain to you what God commands us to do to help our neighbors in similar distress. This is important even if his situation was nothing like Major Tom’s. You do not need to wait until somebody’s situation is extreme. You would call an ambulance after a traffic wreck inflicts a minor bodily injury.
